The Circle Bar – a stalwart Clapham pub – has been refurbished and relaunched as The Phoenix, with a brand spanking new décor.
To celebrate, it’s teamed up with J2O to celebrate two new seasonal flavours; J20 Midnight Forest and J20 Midnight Amber.
Even though it’s the bitter winter, J2O has turned the small smoking area in the back of The Phoenix into a picturesque wonderland garden lined with trees.
Hidden in the very back of this hipster designer clothes shop is a 30 seater restaurant that feels like an old school lounge, styled restaurant with a bit of speakeasy vibe. Walking through the black curtains from the well-lit shop you really get that amazing feeling that you’ve discovered an amazing restaurant that you just cannot wait to take your friends to. One of London’s many hidden gems.
The Dead Dolls House used to be a curious pop up in Hoxton Square started by Adam Towner and Katy Rosewarn, with nothing more than a drill and marker until The House of Woolf – a site that’s been selling drinks since 1856 – became available and they snapped it up.
Walking in, you can’t help but feel like this is exactly what it would be like if in a Quentin Blake and Rohl Dahl threw a houseparty. Just with a bar and strong cocktails.
The Duke’s Head ethos is to support small, independent breweries so there’s a lot of British beers available and the staff are phenomenally well regarded in the industry so really know their stuff.
Walking back from a local West Hampstead restaurant, we unearthed The Gallery (pictured below) and thought that we should pop in for a drink at some point soon.
It took us over a month to actually get around to visiting it (who actually lives or hangs out in West Hampstead?!) Did we enjoy it? Yes. Was it worth the wait? Probably not. Confused? Let me explain….
Since the end of the TV series in 2013, Breaking Bad fans have been going cold turkey. Until now.
ABQ – a small Breaking Bad themed bar – has opened up in a RV, decked out like Walt and Jesse’s lab except now it’s now hidden in the backstreets of Hackney Wick instead of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Once inside, you and your friends are broken up into groups of three and four seated on blue barrels at workstations to mix chemicals and alcohol. Read about how we got on here.
More than just an off-license. Milroy’s of Soho is a London institution. Founded by brothers Jack and Wallace Milroy in 1964, it was a specialty wine shop. However it quickly became known for selling whisky when single malts were introduced in the 60s. Still standing on the top of Greek St it is London’s oldest and most venerable whisky shop.

A floating pub that works so well for summer that you can’t help but wonder if it disappears in the winter. Kind of like Ice Cream Men…. Anyway, this is a converted Dutch barge painted a brash yellow. You definitely can’t miss it!

With friends from abroad in town, we thought we’d indulge in one of London’s latest crazes, high-rise dining to show them the very best of London and so decided to take them to City Social, 24 floors up in Tower 42 and Square Mile’s Restaurant of the Year in 2014.
Touted as a New York pizzeria, with a Chelsea DJ Bar set upstairs, Goat Chelsea sounded like it had a lot of promise so off we trundled…
The Goat sits on the site of what used to be the Goat in Boats, which was there for the past 350 years. Not hugely something we’re fans of but…. It’s here so we tried it.
